Legacy code maintenance & modernization
Careful changes and step-by-step modernization for the Delphi, Oracle PL/SQL and Java systems that still run your business.
Keep the systems that run your business, and make them better
Many companies depend on software written ten or twenty years ago: Delphi desktop applications, Oracle databases full of PL/SQL business logic, older Java applications. They still work, but every change feels risky and the original developers have moved on. We take over that code, make careful changes, and modernize it step by step instead of betting the business on a full rewrite.
What we work on
- Delphi: maintenance and new features in existing Delphi applications, newer compiler and component versions, database access updates, and step-by-step migration paths.
- Oracle PL/SQL: packages, procedures and triggers; bug fixes, new business rules, performance tuning, integrations and Oracle Database upgrades.
- Java: older Java applications moved to a current LTS release, library and security updates (for example Log4j), build modernization and integrations.
- Integrations: connecting legacy systems to new ones through files, databases and APIs, including automated, monitored file transfers.
Maintain, modernize or migrate
- Assess: read the code, database and build process; document how it works and where the risks are.
- Stabilize: reproducible builds, version control, fixes for urgent bugs and security issues.
- Modernize step by step: improve or replace one part at a time, with each step deployable and tested, while the system keeps running.
- Migrate only where it pays off: when a rewrite is the right answer, plan it module by module, with old and new running side by side.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work on our legacy code without the original developer?
Yes. That is the most common situation. We start by reading and documenting the code and database, then make small, tested changes so that nothing breaks in production.
Should we rewrite our legacy application from scratch?
Usually not as a first step. A full rewrite is expensive and risky because the old system contains years of business rules. Step-by-step modernization keeps the business running and lets you decide later whether a migration is still worth it.
Do you work with Oracle databases and PL/SQL?
Yes: PL/SQL packages, procedures and triggers, performance tuning, schema changes, integrations and database upgrades.
Can you work remotely on our code and systems?
Yes. We work remotely through your version control, VPN or remote desktop, in English, from the EU, under GDPR.
